19 year old Halifax Trojan Swimmer David Sharpe is set to compete on August 5-6th in Victoria at the Saanich Commonwealth Place at the 2010 Nations Cup; while teammate Olivia Feschuk, 14 is set to compete in Santa Clara, California at the 2010 North American Challenge Cup on August 5-7th.
Sharpe will be among the thirty seven member Canadian squad facing the Australians, French and Brazilians during the 2010 Nations Cup. A few months ago, Swimming Canada was pleased to announce that Brazil had been added to the newly re-named Nations Cup meet (formerly Tri-Nations Cup), and event, Canada is hoping to host every second year.
The competition format will feature a 50m Olympic event program. Each event will see two athletes per country racing in a shoot out, finals only type of event. A points system will be in place to determine which country takes away the 2010 Nations Cup.
Racing starts at 1pm local time daily. A live Webcast of the event will be available at www.swimming.ca/swimcanwebtv
Just South of the boarder in California, Olivia will be a member of Canada’s Youth Team competing at the 2010 North American Challenge Cup against Southern California, Oregon and Mexico.
