Halifax swimmers earned top spots today at the Summer National Championships in Victoria. Dmitry Shulga of the Halifax Wavecutters Aquatic Club earned a spot in the C final of the men’s 200m Backstroke along with Halifax Trojan Swimmer David Sharpe. Dmitry is heading into the C final with a preliminary time of 2:08.00 and David is heading in with a preliminary time of 2:07.20.

At the pool yesterday, David Sharpe placed 19th overall in the C final of the 50m Backstroke with a time of 27.54 and Olivia Feschuk placed 21st in the C final of the 400m Individual Medley with a time of 5:02.83. The Halifax Trojans men’s relay team placed 16th overall in the 800m Freestyle Relay with a time of 7:54.40; team members included Joe Ur, Bryan Fumerton, Ben Corkum, and Chris Reith. On the women’s side the women’s relay team placed 24th with a time of 8:46.86; team members included Terri-Lynn Benison, Alison Grant, Kristen Vandenberg, and Meagan Bernier.

Competition will continue through Saturday with preliminaries beginning at 9 a.m., and finals at 6 p.m. local time.
