The Dartmouth Whalers Masters Swim Club (DWMSC) needs a part-time Head Coach for the 2010-2011 swimming season.

Founded in 1984, swimming out of the Dartmouth Sportsplex, the club has seen great success over the years. The club capacity is 65 swimmers and wait lists have been common place in the past. We have a very diverse group of swimmers with varying abilities from novice to very skilled. Some swimmers are recreational, others competitive. We welcome them all.

Our swimming season runs from September to June. We swim three nights a week: Sunday 8:15 to 9:30 pm; Tuesday and Thursday from 8:30 to 9:30 pm.

Coaching duties include developing practice sets and drills for various skill levels, monitoring and coaching swimmers during practice, preparing swimmers for competition, and providing advice to swimmers to help them meet their swimming goals. Our team’s goals reflect those of Masters Swimming Canada - Fun, Fitness, Friendship and Participation.

Qualifications / Responsibilities:

• Level 2 NCCP Theory & Technical certification is preferred
• Minimum of two years coaching experience
• Strong knowledge in all technical aspects of competitive swimming
• Ability to adapt to a team with a wide variety of swimming skills and related needs
• Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
• Creativity to ensure practices are challenging and motivating
• Someone who has a love for the sport
