14 year old Olivia Feschuk of the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club earned top spots today at the Pan American Games Pool in Winnipeg during the first day of competition of the 2010 Canadian Age Group National Championships.

Olivia won the finals of the women’s 100m Butterfly and 1500m Freestyle and earned new long course Nova Scotia Provincial Records in both events. Teammate Darragh Somers also earned himself a Provincial Record in the men’s 13-14 50m Breaststroke.

This week in Winnipeg, the competition is split into various age categories, with just over 1,400 swimmers from across Canada competing in the five day event.

The event continues through to Sunday for the pool events, preliminaries are at 8 a.m. and finals at 5:30 pm local time. Over fifty-eight girls and seventy-nine boys have entered the 5km open water event scheduled for the final day of competition on Monday.
