Head Coach

The BV Otters Swim Club is seeking a qualified Head Coach, who is enthusiastic, has leadership qualities, a visionary, imaginative and a dedicated motivator.

Smithers is a northwest B.C. community with a population of 5,500 people and a service area of 10,000. We have a very vibrant community with many sources of activity including swimming, hiking, skiing, snowmobiling, fishing and many other choices. Please visit our town website at town.smithers.bc.ca.

The BV Otters Swim Cub trains in a 4 lane 25 meter pool. Practices are scheduled Monday through Friday in early morning and afternoon/early evening. Our club has an average of 40 to 50 swimmers with 25% non-competitive swimmers. We have Regional, Provincial and National level swimmers.

Qualifications / Responsibilities:
• Fully qualified level 1 NCCP (working toward Level 2)
• Two years Head Coach experience
• Expert knowledge in all technical aspects of competitive swimming
• Supervise assistant coaches
• Train junior coaches
• Recruitment of new swimmers and club development
• Complete satisfactory criminal record check
• Competencies: Expertise (strong technical knowledge),
Organizational/Corncern for Order, Leadership, Teamwork & Cooperation, Results (communication and interpersonal skills)
• Knowledge of Hy-teck Team Manager and other computer software utilized
by swim clubs
• Perform administrative duties as required to develop club wide
training and implement schedules, conduct practices, organize training camps and swim meets
• Attend all competitions that our club has swimmers attending
• Report to Club executive by providing a monthly report at the
executive meeting and to membership at AGM and parent’s meetings
• Communicate regularly with parents on swimmers progress
• Communicate regularly with President &/or Vice President
