15 of Nova Scotia’s top swimmers continue to compete at the 2012 Summer National Championships in Edmonton, Alberta at the Kinsmen Sports Center. The competition began yesterday, Thursday July 19th and will wrap up on Sunday July 22nd.

Top swims of the day include Dartmouth Crusaders Swimmers Laura Beck and Sean Berrigan. Both Crusaders set new Nova Scotia Provincial Records in the 50m Backstroke; during prelims Laura set a new Provincial Record with a time of 30.79 and again in the consolation finals with a time of 30.76 with an 18th place finish, while Sean placed 11th overall with a time of 27.48.

The Halifax Trojans Men’s 4 x 200m Freestyle Relay team had an 8th place finish with a time of 7:48.27. Relay team members included Kyle Watson, Chris Reith, Joe Ur and Aodhan Somers.

The event has over 400 Canadian swimmers representing 150 clubs across Canada. Swimming runs daily with preliminaries starting at 10:00AM and finals at 6:00PM local time.
